With Diwali around the corner, 71 percent quick commerce users to pick a platform that offers value; Product quality important criteria for 65 percent users and 43 percent do not want to pay any extra fee

New Delhi [India], October 27: With Diwali less than two weeks away, millions of urban Indians are leaving their festive shopping to the last minute, and many of them will look to quick commerce platforms to get it done. But a new LocalCircles study shows that delivery in minutes alone is no longer what wins their order. Value is. 71% of quick commerce users say they will choose a platform for festive shopping based on the best prices or overall value, 65% on product quality and 43% on low or no additional charges. Fast delivery, the very promise the category was built on, is cited by just 22%.

The study, which received over 204,000 responses from quick commerce users across 130 districts along with 11,275 platform ratings, also finds that 6 in 10 users say delivery, handling, small-cart or other fees often push their final bill above what they expected, and that quick commerce remains largely a ₹200–₹999-per-order habit. In the ratings, Amazon Now and Zepto share the top overall score, led by value and transparency of charges, while Blinkit leads on speed and BigBasket on product exclusivity.

Festive spending is moving closer to Diwali

The findings come at a time when festive shopping is both large and late. A recent LocalCircles study projects that urban households will spend about ₹1.97 lakh crore on festive purchases this season. Even after a moderation from last year’s GST-boosted high, that is about ₹12,000 crore more than in 2024. 57% of urban households plan festive purchases, at an average of nearly ₹20,000 each, led by clothing, footwear and accessories (72%), home appliances and furniture (45%), travel (45%) and gourmet foods and gifting (39%). With 83% planning to dip into savings, households are weighing every rupee, which puts value at the centre of festive choices.

LocalCircles has also observed a clear shift in timing this year. Amid economic uncertainty, many households are holding back purchases until closer to the festival. That bodes well for quick commerce. For a family that needs sweets, gifts, puja items, diyas or décor in the final days before Diwali, an app that delivers to the doorstep is an easy alternative to crowded markets, packed parking lots and long billing queues.
